This shirt is part of our INIMAI collection where we have attempted to showcase the versatility and adaptability of our traditional crafts to modern times. We also believe that good design ensures sustainable livelihoods for artisans.
This shirt is made using the handwoven jamdhani tradition of Andhra Pradesh. Whether figured or flowered, jamdani is a woven fabric in cotton. This is a supplementary weft technique of weaving, where the artistic motifs are produced by a non-structural weft, in addition to the standard weft that holds the warp threads together. The standard weft creates a fine, fabric while the supplementary weft with thicker threads adds the intricate patterns to it. Please note that the fabric here is a bit transparent. It's perfect for a festive or importants occassion in the evenings.
Please note that the colours of the physical product may vary a bit from the pic.
Handwash in cold water to retain the colours longer. Do the first wash in rock salt dipped in cold water to reduce the colour bleed if there is any. The shirt may shrink a little bit and hence we have kept 1cm extra width and length to accomodate for the same.
